June 2015: Update from Japan

Vol. 7, Issue 2  |  June 2015

Report from Japan

By Akihiro Ozaki

A new organization called “indoor green promotion council” has been established.  Its goal is to increase the demand for flowers and green spaces, after the downturn that happened in July of last year. The council has a mandate to improve greening in indoor offices, commercial facilities, private offices, public facilities and homes by 2020, the Tokyo Olympic year.  They will convey the utility of flowers and green to the general public. We will introduce the first round of an indoor greening contest as one of the activities, and the winning case will be presented at a meeting with the group.
