An annual Congress held for one week between August and October, each year in a different host country. This comprises of a business meeting, which elects officials and administers the affairs of the Association, a concentrated business study tour for the younger generation of garden centre employees, managers and directors, and an excellent social programme.
International Garden Centre Association Congress 2016
Switzerland, August 21-26, 2016
Small country – plenty of variety.
We invite you to get to know the fascinating variety that Swiss garden centres have to offer at the International Garden Center Congress 2016. In Switzerland, a country that is admittedly rich, for some time it has no longer been enough to exhibit plants, advertise them at a reasonable price and wait for the customers to turn up. These days you have to attract customers to garden centres using alternative means. From 22 to 26 August 2016, we will be delighted to show you how 12 independent, family-run garden centres tackle this issue.
Service is the key
Needless to say, friendliness, specialist knowledge and logistics are significant factors for success here. The services they offer are crucial for Swiss garden centres. For example an information desk, plant doctor, packing stations, delivery and overwintering services, advice on plants and growing them, a planting service and much more besides. Find out on the spot about the extraordinarily extensive range of products and services offered by Swiss garden centres.
There is a lot more to see
Throughout the entire week of the Congress, we will be staying in three comfortable hotels immediately adjacent to one another in the cosmopolitan city of Zurich. We will take you on the GoldenPassLine train through the most beautiful landscapes in Switzerland surrounded by mountains. Experience the “Wasserschloss Schweiz” – the Switzerland of lakes and rivers – with a lake cruise and visit the largest waterfall in Europe. You will get an insight into the production of the world-famous Swiss chocolate and be able to taste it, should you feel tempted.
Come to Switzerland in 2016 and experience the fascinating variety offered by Swiss garden centres. You will be delighted with what you see and be able to gain a lot from the experience.
See you in Switzerland.
